What we cover under Commercial Locksmith
Master key systems
A single key for management opens all doors; staff keys open only their assigned areas. We design, supply, and install master key systems for offices, retail, warehouses, and multi-tenant buildings. Typically £40–£120 per cylinder + system setup fee.
Access control & electronic locks
Keypad locks, RFID card readers, fob systems. We install and integrate basic access control — full networked systems (with audit trails, remote management) we install in partnership with security integrators.
Re-keying after staff changes
When someone leaves with keys, you don't need new locks — just re-keyed cylinders. We swap the pins inside existing cylinders so old keys no longer work but the hardware stays in place. Significant cost saving vs full lock replacement.
High-security commercial cylinders
Mul-T-Lock Interactive, Abloy Protec, Medeco — patented key systems where keys cannot be duplicated without authorisation from key holder. Essential for cash-handling environments, pharmacies, and any high-value site.
Fire & emergency exit hardware
Panic bars, electromagnetic locks with fire alarm release, push-pad latches. We supply and install hardware that meets UK fire safety regulations (BS EN 1125, BS EN 179).
Safes & cash management
Eurograde deposit safes, drop slots, time-delay safes for cash-handling premises. Insurance often specifies grade requirements — we advise on compliance.

Commercial — frequently asked questions
How does a master key system work?
Each lock has two ways to open: an individual key (staff member, room) and a master key (manager, owner). Behind the scenes, the cylinder has differently positioned pins that all align for either key. Lose a staff key, you just re-key that one cylinder — the master still works everywhere.
What's re-keying and when does it save money?
Re-keying changes the pins inside an existing cylinder so old keys stop working, but the hardware stays in place. Costs £39 per cylinder vs £80–£150 to replace. Useful when staff leave with keys or after a tenant change — same security as new locks, half the cost.
Do I need a survey before you quote?
For anything beyond a single lock change, yes — site visits are usually free for jobs over £300. We need to see door types, existing hardware, fire compliance constraints, and access flows. Survey takes 30–60 minutes; written quote within 48 hours.
